The celebrations began on Saturday 8 August with a Community Fayre in Ventnor Park from 12pm to 6pm.
Carnival Week is packed with activities for all ages, alongside the famous carnival processions. Events include a Quiz Night, Bingo, Race Night, Darts Competition and much more. Full details can be found on the Ventnor Carnival website.
On Monday afternoon, the popular Monday Competitions returned to St Catherine’s Church from 1pm. Categories included Glamorous Granny, Gorgeous Grandad, Bonnie Baby, Tiny Tot and Town Crier.
Dog lovers won’t want to miss the Ventnor Carnival Dog Show on Tuesday afternoon in Ventnor Park. Registration opens at 1pm, with 12 fun classes including Delightful Dog, Perfect Puppy, Scruffiest Dog and Dog Most Like Its Owner. Entry costs just £2 per category.
Wednesday is the highlight of the week, featuring two spectacular parades. The Children’s Carnival starts at 12 noon, with participants assembling in Dudley Road from 11.30am. Children are encouraged to dress up and decorate bikes, scooters or buggies to join the fun.
The Main Carnival Procession starts at 7pm. Bring your family and friends, line the streets and help them celebrate another fantastic Ventnor Carnival with an unforgettable evening of music, entertainment and carnival magic!
Everyone is welcome to take part, whether as a float, walking group, decorated vehicle, band, business, charity or school. Entries can be made at the Carnival Hub or on the day. Assembly at Dudley Road begins at 5pm, with judging from 6pm.
On Saturday, St Catherine’s Church hosts an Art Exhibition from 10am to 4pm, showcasing the work of talented local artists. Proceeds will support the Isle of Wight Kidney Patients Association.
The week concludes on Saturday 15 August with the much-loved Illuminated Carnival. One of Ventnor’s most magical traditions, the parade features beautifully lit entries creating a stunning spectacle after dark. Whether taking part or watching from the roadside, it promises to be a fitting finale to another fantastic Ventnor Carnival Week.
