Ian was co-opted to the Town Council in May 2018, and re-elected in 2021 to represent Ventnor West. He has served previously as a councillor in London, and has postgraduate qualifications in business, finance and development management.
Ian has visited the island regularly since childhood, and moved here permanently after working in industry (operations and HR) for nearly thirty years. He is a strong believer in openness and transparency, and works with fellow councillors to progress the council’s strategy, building upon the town’s strengths as a unique and very special place to live. On the Council he has championed development of the new website, both to better engage people locally and to promote our town, and he keen to ensure that residents always get value for money. Ian enjoys European travel, DIY, and walking the island with his dog.
