LASHINGS WORLD XI TO RETURN TO STEEPHILL

News shared by Ventnor Cricket Club:

Arguably the highlight of Ventnor Cricket Club’s 175th anniversary celebrations takes place on Friday 15 August when the famous Lashings World XI return to Steephill for the first time in nine years.

Lashings will field a team of international cricketers for the T20 fixture which will start at 3.30pm with a licensed bar and refreshments from 1pm.  Admission to the match is £5 with entry free for under 16’s, provided they are accompanied by a paying adult.

Previous encounters with the Harlem Globetrotters of world cricket have provided great entertainment for packed Steephill audiences and spectators can look forward to more terrific action this time around!

The Lashings team will shortly be announced but among the likely eleven will be Courtney Walsh, the legendary West Indies fast bowler.

Sir Gordon Greenidge, who has fond memories of Steephill, not only with Lashings but also Hampshire, will receive a warm welcome in his ambassadorial role while the one and only Henry Blofeld, the retired BBC Test Match Special commentator, will be on the microphone!
