Island youngsters are in for a treat this Easter, as libraries across the Isle of Wight prepare a packed programme of crafty, creative and magical activities for the school holidays.

The fun continues after Easter into April at Lord Louis Library, when young visitors can take part in a bunny hunt around the children’s library on Tuesday 7 April.

Teenagers aren’t forgotten either, with a mood and vision board workshop on Thursday 9 April, between 2.30pm and 4pm.

Following his popular February half‑term appearance, local magician Naturally Nick will be back on Saturday 11 April, ready to wow young audiences and even teach a few tricks.

At Ryde Library, families can enjoy an Easter story time and craft session on Wednesday 1 April, while Sandown Library will help children create Easter mosaic cards the next day.

Both Ventnor and Cowes libraries will be offering Easter‑themed crafts when they open as usual on Saturday 4 April.

Young makers can try their hand at paper bug bracelets at Sandown on Tuesday 7 April, and Ryde will host a drop‑in craft session on Wednesday 8 April.

April also marks the launch of two new teen reading groups at Ryde Library. Beginning Wednesday 1 April, and meeting monthly thereafter, the groups – one for ages 13–15, the other for 16–18 – form part of the themed teen book club All Booked Up.

This month’s theme, a personal favourite, gives teens a chance to share the books they love most. For details, call Ryde Library on 823825.

Young authors still have time to take part in the Small Stories competition, challenging children aged 16 and under to tell a tale in just ten words, complete with an illustration. Entry forms are available in all Island libraries.

With so much on offer, there’s something for every young book‑lover, crafter and curious mind this Easter. To find out more about holiday activities and other library services, visit www.iow.gov.uk/thelibrary or follow @IWLibraries on Facebook.
